Budgeting home projects can be a little tricky if you’re not sure what to lookout for. You can cut corners on a few projects or beef up on the extras, just know depending on what you want, the same home can be built for $70 a square foot or $250 a square foot. The materials and artistic design of a home will have a major factor on the overall outcome of your home.

Be sure to communicate very clearly with your builder what features you want and the kind of quality you’re expecting. Show them pictures that illustrate your vision so they fully understand the requirements and give you accurate bids.

Here are some things that home owners should consider as part of their budget:

  • Kitchens and Bathrooms are important. We recommend Investing in these areas
  • Consider Using materials that are durable and long lasting like brick and hardwood floors
  • Build an ENERGY STAR home
  • Don’t forget furniture. If you’re upgrading to a larger home you may need to furnish new rooms.
  • Consider your landscaping.
