Where To Start

There are two primary things to look for when designing a home. First is the actual floor plan and layout of the home. Second is the style or unified theme throughout the house. A great place to start looking for both of these is at a local book store like Barnes and Nobel or Books A Million. They should have magazines and books to browse through from interior design to floor plans and landscape ideas.

Take a pad of paper with you to write down what’s important to you about a home and what rooms or features you saw that you want to incorporate into your design. It helps to get organized right from the start. There are plenty of options and ideas to read through so make notes to yourself when you come across something of interest.

Here are some resources you may find useful

  • Barnes and Nobel Borders Books, Books-A-Million
  • Visiting other homes and neighborhoods
  • The Great Indoors, Lowes, Home Depot
  • Local garden nursery
  • Real Estate Agent
  • Local Interior Designer
